Easy Homemade Soft Pretzel Bites

I realize this is not a picture of a pretzel bite, but I thought this cloud  was neat.

My kids thought it looked like a dog. I thought it looked more like a lama. :)

Here’s another one I liked…

My husband thinks I’m crazy ’cause I like to take pictures of clouds, but I love how God paints pictures, in the clouds, for us to enjoy, everyday.

Okay, sorry about that… Now on to the pretzels…

These are sooo yummy and sooo easy.  I found this recipe from Just Get Off Your Butt and Bake. :D (I thought the name of this blog was funny.)

Here is a list of ingredients…  It’s long, so be prepared…

A package of frozen dinner rolls (I used Rhodes frozen dinner rolls.  If you can’t find Rhodes, you can use any kind of bread dough cut into bite size pieces.  I think frozen is easier! ;) )

That’s it.  Seriously folks, supper easy.  Okay, so you have to brush a little butter and sprinkle some garlic powder and Parmesan cheese on them, but that is it!

Thaw your dough enough so you can cut the rolls in half.  The beauty of this is, you can make as little or as much as you like.  I made enough to put on one cookie sheet to thaw, and then when I cut them I had enough for two cookie sheets.

After you cut the rolls in half, prepare a pot of boiling water, and a towel lined with a paper towel on top.

You are going to plop 10 or 12 of the dough balls into the boiling water for about 45 seconds to shock the dough. Use a big slotted spoon to fish them out of the water and put on the paper towels to soak up some of the water.

I did not have a big slotted spoon,  so this is what I used…

What?!  It’s not very often I need to fish something out of a big pot of boiling water!

After you finish shocking your dough, put them on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 375 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.  They will be done when they are a nice golden brown color.

Load them up with some melted butter…

(Yes, I’m a distant relative to Paula Deen.)

Then spinkle with the topping of your choice:

a little salt, garlic and Parmesan…

cinnamon and sugar…

I chose both. :)

These babies are the best warm, soft pretzels I have ever eaten!!  For sure!!!

You can dip the garlic/Parmesan in a warm cheese sauce of your choice, or the cinnamon pretzels you can dip in cream cheese icing. Can I get a Yummmmm-O!?!

They are best right out of the oven, but if you have any leftovers, you can put in a ziplock, and they will store well.

Hope you enjoy!

Have a great weekend all!

  1. i still do not get it…………..when i was at walmart last night, i looked in frozen foods and found frozen yeast rolls, these were prebaked. i did find the frozen bread, not prebaked along side of these rolls. so does these bites call for prebaked or not prebaked, and can you use the prebaked bread if you can not find rolls. help me. i am trying,lol……..i want to do this !!

    • Hey Donita, you need to get the dough, not the pre-baked rolls. I used Roads frozen dinner rolls. They are in a big orange bag. I think they have 72 rolls in the bag. They are in the freezer section next to the frozen bread dough. You can also use the frozen bread dough, you just have cut it down to bite-sized pieces. Hope this helps! :)
