“Oh YEAH!” Is all there is to say about these little yummies!
Have you ever heard of Lofthouse cookies? Well, these bars are like that, only way better! Yum-a-lishish!!!! (Sorry Lofthouse!)
The frosting on these little babies are beyond-belief good!
I found this recipe at Just Because Katie, and they are, seriously, a must try!
Sugar Cookie Bars with Cream-Cheese Butter Frosting
Ingredients…
1 cup butter, room temperature
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla extract
5 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
parchment paper
*(Notes in parentheses are mine, just like this one.
)
Directions…
Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. (I beat the butter and sugar together, for about 5 minutes, until it was really light and fluffy.) Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing after each egg. Add vanilla extract and mix well. In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt, baking soda and stir with a wire whisk to mix well. Add to wet mixture and mix just until combined. Spread dough onto a greased (I used parchment paper lined) 13 x 18 baking sheet. (I like parchment, ’cause there is, absolutely, no sticking. JMO.
) Bake at 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes, until light golden brown or until a toothpick comes out clean. The bars won’t look done so do the toothpick test. Cool completely and then frost.

Cream-Cheese Butter Frosting…
1/2 cup butter, room temperature
4 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. salt
5 cups powdered sugar
1 tbsp. milk
food coloring (if desired)
sprinkles (of course)
Directions…
Combine butter and cream cheese until smooth and creamy. Add vanilla extract and salt. Add powdered sugar in 1 cup increments until combined, then add milk and mix until smooth and spreading consistency. Spread over cooled sugar cookie bars.
This frosting is to die for! When I made it, I only had 4 cups of powdered sugar, so I just omitted the milk. Let me tell you, I could have eaten the whole bowl, with a spoon, it was that good!
Enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by, Erin!
Thank you for your yummy post! I just love this time of year. There are so many reasons to bake or make something mouth watering to eat. I like to make all of my extended family a sweet treat at chirstmas instead of spending a bunch of money. I save and they enjoy!!!
Vannesa, making sweet treats for gifts is a great idea! Thanks for visiting!
I have just made some and was wondering if they can be frozen have you tried> thanks Trish
Trish, I’ve not tried to freeze them, but I don’t see why you couldn’t. If you do, come back and tell us, how they turned out.
These look amazing, found them on pinterest. I am thinking almond extract instead of vanilla to throw a twist into it. I am sure either way, I will want to eat the whole pan!
Ohhh! I bet almond would be good! I’ll have to try that the next time! Thanks for stopping by!
This recipe looks fantastic, and i cant wait to try it but I am unable to save, copy or print it. I am writing it down, but it’s normally much easier to copy and paste too my menu app.. I have had this prob on several other recipes of interest on your site too. No issues anywhere else. Do you block these options? Do I need to register somewhere? I don’t see the option. Suggestions please. I’d hate to avoid your site for time sakes….
Devan, Thanks for stopping by. I’m sorry you are having trouble printing this recipe…
Right under the recipe there is a sentence that says, “To print this recipe click here.” If you click the word “here” another screen will pop up with the recipe, at the bottom of that screen there is a print button. Hope this helps. Thanks again for stopping by!
I knew it was a mistake to make these cookies! I can’t stop eating them and am going to make myself sick because they are sooooo good! This recipe is definitely a keeper.
This recipe is amazing! I have made three batches in two weeks for work, friends, and a potluck. I am obsessed with the frosting. I was out of vanilla for one frosting batch so I added a bit of maple syrup. Delish!!
Amy, so glad you like these. They are one of my all time favorites! Will have to try it with the maple syrup, sounds yummy! Thanks for sharing!
Have you ever cut the recipe in half and made it in a 9×9?
Rebecca, This recipe calls for a 13×18 size pan, so if you cut the recipe in half and put it in a 9×9 pan, they will be thick. I Think it would be all right, but you would have to bake them longer. I would just keep an eye on them in the oven so they don’t burn. Hope this helps! Thanks for stopping by!
Making these for the second time…they were a hit with everyone. My daughter prefers them without frosting even!!
This time, I am using almond instead of vanilla in the frosting. BOTH are delicious!
