Pizza Hot Dish

Okay… so… I’ve posted a couple of “more healthy” recipes lately…

like the low cal, Two Ingredient Cake,

and, I thought it was time to post a “Fatty Mc-butter Pants” recipe.  You’re welcome. :D

Pizza Hot Dish

This sounds reasonable, I mean, pizza can be “kind of” healthy, right?… Well, wait till I tell you about the cheese and the crust in this Pizza Hot Dish!!!

I actually got the recipe from a church cook book from years ago (Thank you Mrs. Payton!!!). I’ve made it several times, but it has been awhile since I made it last, so I thought it was high time to make it again!!!

Pizza Hot Dish

½ lb hamburger
½ lb sausage
½ cup green peppers (you can also add mushrooms, or whatever else you like to put on your pizza.)
1 jar pizza sauce
pepperoni
2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
2 cans crescent rolls

Pre-heat oven to 375°.
In skillet brown hamburger and sausage together. Add green peppers and continue cooking until meat is done and green peppers are soft. Add pizza sauce and remove from heat.

Spray the bottom of a 9×13 baking pan with Pam. Press 1 can of crescent rolls into bottom of pan. Spread meat mixture on top of the crescent rolls and add a layer of pepperoni. Sprinkle with cheese. Top with second can of crescent rolls, stretching the dough to cover most of the pan. Bake on top rack, uncovered for 15-20 minutes.  (I like to make sure the dough on the bottom is cooked all the way, so I move my pan to the bottom rack after 15-20 min and cover with foil to keep the top crust from getting too dark, and bake for another 5 min.)

This recipe comes together super quick and easy. It’s perfect for a busy week night, or even a lazy Saturday. It tastes really yummy too!

My family loves this, it’s a true kid pleaser!
