Give new life to old necklaces with a magnetic extender!

So, last week I showed you my sparkly flower necklace, that had a magnet on it so I could change-up the flower…

I made lots of flowers for it…

These flowers are so addicting to make!!!

Anyhoo… I was going through some old – boring necklaces that I made…

Don’t be jealous!

I was trying to decide if I wanted to scrap them for the beads, and I thought they might be cute with a flower on them.

So… I made a magnetic extender…

Being the lazy busy woman who I am, I did not want to re-make every single old necklace!!!

So, I just made one extender with clasps on each side, that way, I could put it on whatever necklace I wanted to wear.

Now, I have, pretty much, doubled the functionality of the necklaces in my jewelry box! Woo-Hoo!

I need to hit Goodwill to see if I can find some old brooches that I can put magnets on! :D

  1. I was wondering how I can get the extender, I have a fat neck and I could use the extender. These necklaces are beautiful.

  2. It’s hard not to be jealous of such beautiful jewelry. I’ve got some necklaces that could be spruced up, too. Very very lovely. Best wishes, Linda

  3. Stephanie-

Love these upcycled necklaces. I have a ton of old beads from my grandmother, and I just started making those flowers as well. Great idea. I especially love the pink/black combo.

I featured you today at my site from last week’s Creative Juice. I’m also sharing this at my pinterest and facebook…Thanks for linking up last week.

  4. Great idea!! I really like what the flowers add to them. Thanks for sharing at Shine on Fridays, as always! Each week, I look forward to your projects!

  6. Love your creativeness. They are lovely. So simple too. Being the practical girl that I am, just wondering if flower stays to the side or falls to the middle because of the weight?

    • Shar, great question! It has been my experience that the flower stayed to the side for the most part. I did notice that if I did a lot of bending over the flower would slip to the middle. :D Thanks for stopping by!
