The Best {Raw} Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Recipe!!

Who doesn’t love raw cookie dough? Seriously, I think I might not have made it through my last pregnancy without raw cookie dough! (I know, I’m bad! *Do not try this at home!* ;) )

I don’t think I’m alone in eating raw cookie dough, though. You know the kind I’m talking about… The kind with eggs! *shutter!* ;) I’ve eaten it for years, and I’ve never had a problem. I know some of you will say that “It’s still not good to eat raw cookie dough!” (Especially when your prego!) But, let’s face it!  We all do it at one time or another.

Now, if cookie dough is going to be served as a legitimate dessert (Not the ‘stand in the freezer, hiding from your kids, while you eat a batch of raw cookie dough’ kind of dessert! ~ And, no, I do not know this from experience! *AHem*), I prefer to not serve OTHER people raw cookie dough.

I’ve made other eggless cookie dough recipes, but they all seem to lack flavor.

I found this recipe at Joy the Baker. It looked very promising! And, let me just say… It is the best eggless  chocolate chip cookie dough recipe I’ve tried!!!

So yummmm….

The Best {Raw} Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Recipe

1 stick (1/2 cup or 4 ounces) unsalted butter at room temperature
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup Greek yogurt or applesauce or peanut butter
*1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda (I know we’re not baking them, it’s for flavor)
1/2 teaspoons salt
1 cup mini semi sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

In the bowl of a stand mixer fit with a paddle attachment (or with a large bowl and a wooden spoon) cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy, about three minutes in the machine.  Beat in yogurt or applesauce or peanut butter along with the vanilla extract and stir to combine.

Whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt.  Add all at once to the butter and sugar mixture and stir until incorporated.  Fold in chocolate chips and walnuts.

*(Stephanie’s notes: If you use applesauce or yogurt, you may have to add more flour. I made a batch with applesauce and I had to use 2 cups flour.)

You can use this recipe for any recipe that calls for raw cookie dough.

Joy, from Joy The Baker, dipped her dough in chocolate and froze them. Sounds sooo good!!! (I will be doing this with my next batch!!)

With my first batch, I wanted to make those chocolate chip cookie dough brownies that you see all over Pinterest. I used peanut butter in the cookie dough to make these brownies…

All I can say is…

DE-Vine!!!

Absolutely de-lish!!!!!

I just made a regular 9×13 brownie mix and topped the brownies with the cookie dough.

These brownies reminded me of a Reese’s Peanut butter Cup!

Yummy!

Enjoy your weekend!

  1. We love raw cookie dough…many times the dough never makes it to the oven!! We loved having you link up to our “Strut Your Stuff Saturday.” Please join us again next week! Thanks! -The Sisters

  2. This is AWESOME. I’ve been so in to home-made desserts lately. I make a batch of brownies and portion them out for lunches all week. But (dare I say it?) brownies do get old after so long. Having this little number to throw in the mix is AWESOME! I adore cookie dough. I like to pick out all the chips and eat them all at once later. I imagine this would go REALLY well on a sundae! If you get a second, I’d LOVE for you to share this at Sweet Sharing Monday http://saynotsweetanne.com/2012/sweet-sharing-monday-2/

  3. I can’t wait to show this recipe to my husband. When I make cookies he always asks if I am going to ruin them by baking them!!!!!

  4. Oh my goodness, I am an addict of raw cookie dough. I had to try with all my willpower not to eat any while pregnant. Hardest thing ever…
My husband hates when I eat it, but with this recipe I can eat it and and not get him all worried. Love it!!! Thanks

  5. I like that this cookie dough does not have cream cheese. I love cream cheese, but to me that does not make it taste like cookie dough and so many dough/batter recipes on pinterest use that.

  6. I never knew…there was a recipe for actually Raw cookie Dough… hmmmm I eat it all the time…eggs and all…will have to give this a try!!

  9. I know what they say about eating the raw cookie dough but I was first introduced to it in the 70′s and haven’t gotten sick yet. Can’t wait to try this.

  10. awesome, going to use the peanut butter and put it over my homemade brownies that are awesome enough on it’s own!very excited.

  11. I am licking the spoon as I speak. This recipe is awesome. The greek yogurt worked really well. I love how it gave this a cheesecake-y flavor to it. I made this recipe in my food processor and it worked well. The texture is velvety and it’s just amazing. Thanks for sharing this. I will be making this all the time.

PS. I didn’t have to add extra flour. My daughter liked the consistency this way. But if I am using this for a Coldstone cookie doughn’t you want some knockoff, I’ll definitely add some more flour.

You made me a very happy girl. :)

    • Vickie,
I’ve never baked these, but I don’t see why you couldn’t. I would bake them at 350 for about 7-8 minutes. Come back and let us know how you liked ‘em, if you decide to bake ‘em. Thanks for stopping by! :D

  15. Oh, this sounds great! I’m quite addicted to this stuff, but I’m also extremely paranoid so I’ve been avoiding raw eggs since I was old enough to realize they could make you sick. I’ve tried a couple egg-free recipes for homemade cookie dough ice cream, and just for eating raw, but they always disappoint, but Greek yogurt sounds perfect for this! Definitely giving this a try after I make banana bread this afternoon!
