New Picnic Table Love

Remember our broken patio table top?

Yeah, we were sad…

But, we decided to make the best of it, and now we have a new picnic table, and I love it!!!!

Here is the table frame with no top…

Here is the table in the process of getting a new top…

And, here is our new table, all finished…

It adds a lot more usable space to our back yard. Love. Love. Love that!!!

Doug cut down the sides a little more, and I stained the top to match our fence.

To attach the wood to the metal frame, Doug added three strips of wood underneath and screwed the boards to the strips of wood. (I realize the picture only shows two strips of wood… I could not get a good picture of all three. ;))

The kids love eating their lunch out here in the new space. (No, I did not ban them from eating at the new glass table! :D)

Aren’t they cute? :D

Have a great week, Peeps!

  2. Great post. Thank you. Can you please tell me what the silver metal things attached to the 3 pieces of wood under table are? Do I need them? I also have a metal frame without a glass. It broke last summer after a very windy day which tipped over my umbrella :( I am sooo doing this.

  3. Hi there! I realize the last comment is from 2013, but hoping you will see this. We are in the same predicament, I love your table Reno! My question is about the 3 strips of wood, how are they attached to the table?
Thanks, would love to hear your response!

    • Hi Mdixie!
The thee strips of wood on the back are for screwing the boards to. We just sat the table top on top of the frame. It is not screwed or secured in anyway. I weight of the boards help keep it in place. We have never had any problems with it.

      Hope this helps!
