The Best Candied Nuts ~ For Dad! (Plus a sugar-free version!)

I hope you spoiled all the dad’s in your life this past week-end!

This year I made some candied nuts for my dad, and my hubby for Father’s Day.

I found this cute “We’re Nuts about you Dad!” printable from A Step in the Journey. It was just perfect to go along with the candied nuts for our dads.

The thing that makes these The Best Candied Nuts is that there is a ton of candy to smother the nuts in! Yes sirree Bob!  If sugar scares you, however, you can scroll down to the end of the recipe, I’ve included a sugar-free version as well. ;)

The Best Candied Nuts

4 cups nuts
4 egg whites
1 cup sugar*
4 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. cinnamon

Pre-heat oven to 300°

In mixer, with whisk attachment, whisk egg whites until stiff peaks form. gradually stir in sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Fold in nuts.

Spread evenly on a parchment lined cookie sheet and bake for 30-40 min, stirring every 10 minutes until toasted and crispy. Store in an air tight container.

*To make this recipe sugar-free, simply replace the 1 cup sugar with 1 cup Splenda or 1 tsp Stevia (liquid or powder).

It is “kind of” a weird time of year to make toasted nuts, but since my hubby and dad love nuts, it worked for us. :D

The house smelled wonderful as the nuts were toasting. All vanilla-y and cinnamon-y!

So yummmm!

These nuts will definitely be making a comeback in the winter months! Fo’ Sho’!!

Enjoy!

  4. Those look so well coated! I love adding candied nuts to summer salads and they are perfect for snacking on too. I usually make mine in a pot, but the oven method seems so much simpler. :)
