I’ve been really enjoying my green smoothies, everyday. That says a lot coming from me… I’m not one who likes my food in the form of green, unless it’s green – smathered in butter and cheese and ranch dip. (I realize smathered isn’t a word, but I like it anyway ) Okay, I’m a responsible adult, my green stuff doesn’t ALWAYS have to be smathered in butter and cheese and ranch dip, but it sure helps!

Anyhoo, I’ve really been liking these green smoothies! I usually have one for, either, lunch or breakfast. I never – ever – thought I would like a green smoothie, EVER!! Let alone try one. FO’ RILZ people!

I found this recipe on Pinterest (Where else, right?) The pin came from Iowa Girl Eats.

All I can say is yumm-OHHH! You really cannot tell there is anything green in here.

Green Smoothie Goodness

1 frozen sliced banana (I cut up a banana and placed it on parchment paper on top of a cookie sheet to freeze.)
1 Tablespoon peanut butter
1 teaspoon honey (You can omit this, but I think it helps hide the spinach a little more. Maybe it’s just me…)
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (greek, light, or regular yogurt)
1 cup milk (any kind)
3 big handfuls of baby spinach

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

Nutritional stats:
370 calories, 10g fiber, 21g protein (this will vary slightly depending on the type of milk and yogurt you use.)

To print this recipe click Green Smoothie Goodness.

It has a nice peanut butter taste, and you wouldn’t even know it’s good for you!

I’ve tried other smoothies, but this, so far, is my fave.

Do your kid’s struggle with their math facts?

Okay, maybe it’s just us, but… We were struggling with multiplication facts at our house.

My kids are to the point in their math (one is well past this point!), that they need to have their facts memorized, but it just wasn’t happening. We tried everything… Games, flashcards, writing them out. Nothing was working. A friend of mine mentioned that she found a DVD that truly helped her kids learn their facts. I was ready to try anything!

It’s called Times Tales from Trigger Memory System.

(source)

I reached out to the good people of Trigger Memory System and they were so gracious to allow me the opportunity to review their DVD.

I will share two little words with ya…

IT WORKED!

Woo-hoo!!! I am so excited!!!! I think I’m more excited than the kids are.

Let me tell you, this DVD has been a real game changer at our house. The DVD focuses on the upper 3s and 4s and 6s, 7s, 8s and 9s, and it works fast too. After just an hour, my kids had the first half of the facts memorized. I was amazed! Finally something that works!!! Yay!

The DVD comes with printable tests and games.

(No, my three-year old is not some genius-scientist kid doing the math tests. He just wanted to be included in on the fun. But, it is worth mentioning, he could answer many of the questions during quiz time, and I thought that was pretty cool – ’cause he’s three, and all! )

My kids had fun coloring and playing with the dice that are included in the printouts.

If your kids are struggling with their facts, Times Tales DVD is a real life saver! (Your’s and your kid’s! ) I highly recommend this DVD to everyone. (Well, maybe not to some genius-scientist kid, ’cause he/she {clearly} already knows his/her math facts… )

(First of all, I just wanted to say, please excuse the website… It is under construction right now. I’m in the process of moving everything over to my new dot com site, and I still don’t have everything “just so”, you know how it is… Thanks for being patient! )

So, anyways, I’ve been (kinda) on on little kick with making two ingredient recipes… Okay, I’ve made ONE other recipe with two ingredients, you might remember… 2 Ingredient Strawberry Fudge? Yeah, so that’s my little kick, mm-kay?

Anyhoo, I found this pin on Pinterest, for cup-cakes, and I knew I had to try this as cake… (I could not find the site that the pin originally came from.) (Update: a reader emailed me and said she thinks this recipe originally came from Diet Rite Soda, so now I can give someone credit for this marvelous recicpe!!! )

Two Ingredient CAKE!!!

But, for-realz, folks, this is quite possibly the easiest cake in the whole wide world. AND… it’s low on calories too. Woo-hoo! How can you not love this cake???

Seriously!?!

How can you get any easier than two (2) ingredients??? (Okay… three ingredients if you count frosting… and, four if you count sprinkles!! )

Two Ingredient Strawberry Cake

1 box strawberry cake mix
12 oz. diet 7-up

Combine the cake mix and the 7-up in a bowl and beat with an electric mixer until well blended. Bake as directed on box. (I decreased the temp to 325° and decreased the time by 5 minutes.) Cool and frost with Cool Whip or any frosting of your choice.

To print this recipe (just in case someone has a hard time remembering 2 ingredients… ) click Two Ingredient Strawberry Cake.

I’m just thinking of all the combinations you could make!! I’ve never tried this, but I’ve been told that for chocolate cake to use diet Coke or Pepsi, or even Dr. Pepper. (Oh… chocolate cake is so on my list to make!!)

Enjoy!
